A Day in the Life of Chris Kelly
As a Senior Superintendent, Chris’s role involves overseeing daily operations on the job site, managing teams, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. But for Chris, there’s one key piece of advice that he’s learned over the years: “Admit your mistakes. You’ll be surprised at the outcome—it will build teamwork, gain you respect, and earn the trust of others.” It’s this approach that has made him a respected leader, fostering an environment of honesty and mutual respect on the job.
If Not in Construction, What?
If Chris weren’t working in construction, he’d probably be running a 5-star hotel with fine dining, likely in New York City. His attention to detail and high standards in the field reflect the same dedication he’d bring to hospitality.
Overcoming Challenges in Student Housing
One of the most memorable challenges Chris has faced in his career was working on student housing projects. “Student housing can be very challenging,” he shares. “If you learn to compartmentalize it, you’ll be much more successful.” Chris’s ability to stay focused and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders has been key to his success in this high-demand sector.
Chris’s Happy Place
When Chris isn’t on the job site, his happy place is on his bike, especially in the mountains. “It’s the closest you can get to flying without leaving the ground,” he says, reflecting on how much he enjoys the freedom and peace that comes with biking through nature.
Adventure and Travel Dreams
If Chris could travel anywhere in the world, he would have a hard time choosing between Ireland and Australia. Both destinations have their own unique appeal, and Chris would love to explore them. As for adventure, changing careers after 20 years is definitely one of his most daring moves. “It was a big shift, but it was the right one,” he says.
One item still on Chris’s bucket list? Attending the Sturgis South Dakota Bike Rally—a dream that ties into his love for motorcycles and the biking community.
Living by a Strong Motto
Chris lives by the quote, “If you can get it done now, then do it now. That’s one less thing to worry about.” His practical mindset and focus on efficiency help keep both his professional and personal life running smoothly.
What Brings a Smile to Chris’s Face
The simple things bring Chris joy—like seeing people he likes and spending time with puppies. “Puppies always make me smile,” he laughs, showcasing his down-to-earth and approachable nature.

When reflecting on a special moment in his life, Chris recalls the last time he went fishing with his dad in St. Augustine. “I didn’t know it would be the last time I saw him alive,” he says, his voice softening. Chris’s favorite holiday tradition is Thanksgiving. “It’s a time for family, food, and togetherness,” he shares. The holiday gives him the opportunity to reconnect with loved ones and reflect on what he’s grateful for.
