A Day in the Life of Kate Horvath
Meet Kate Horvath, FaverGray’s dedicated HR and Payroll Director who has been an integral part of our team for the past five years. Known for her unwavering support, genuine care for people, and ability to juggle countless responsibilities with grace, Kate plays a vital role in shaping our company culture and keeping our team connected. From onboarding new employees to organizing memorable events, Kate’s impact is felt every day at FaverGray.
As Kate notes, working in HR means that each day brings something new. “My day could range from onboarding new employees to working on healthcare benefits or even organizing FaverGray events,” she says. It’s the dynamic nature of her job that keeps things exciting, and Kate enjoys the challenge of balancing multiple tasks. Whether she’s resolving concerns, advocating for employees, or ensuring the company culture remains strong, Kate is always there to support FaverGray’s team.
If Not in Construction, What?
Before entering the construction industry, Kate had a different dream job in mind. “When I was in school, I wanted to be a forensic psychologist for the FBI,” she reveals. Though her path led her to HR, Kate’s curiosity and desire to help others have remained at the core of her career.
Overcoming Challenges: Building Company Culture
One of the biggest challenges Kate has faced in her career has been creating a company culture that works for both the company and its employees. “There’s always a compromise that needs to make sense for both parties,” Kate explains. “The real accomplishment for me is getting to a point where employees feel comfortable coming to me with their concerns or ideas, knowing that I will advocate on their behalf.” Kate’s dedication to fostering an open, communicative environment has made her a trusted resource for the FaverGray team.
Kate’s Happy Place
Kate’s happy place is simple yet meaningful: her home. “I’m such a low-key person and enjoy quiet relaxation where I’m most comfortable,” she shares. Home is where she can recharge and enjoy the peace and comfort she values most.
Adventure and Travel Dreams
Kate’s adventurous spirit has led her to many exciting experiences. She spent a month in Nicaragua during college, moving between villages to facilitate grassroots health clinics. “It was an eye-opening experience and a month I’ll never forget,” she says. Looking ahead, Kate’s next travel goal is to visit Prague, which is at the top of her bucket list.
Speaking of bucket lists, Kate has already checked off one major item: diving with sharks! “It was absolutely thrilling,” she says. Now, she has her sights set on experiencing Christmas in Europe, where she hopes to immerse herself in the local traditions.
Bringing Smiles and Family Traditions
One thing that always brings a smile to Kate’s face? Her dogs. “I’m obsessed with them!” she laughs.
Kate also cherishes her family traditions, especially the ones that connect her to her late grandmother. “I remember baking cookies with my grandma when I was little,” she recalls. In honor of this memory, Kate spends an entire weekend every December baking and making dozens of cookie boxes to share with friends and family.
Inspiring Others
Kate’s commitment to creating a positive and supportive work environment makes her an invaluable member of the FaverGray team. Her passion for both people and culture shines through in everything she does, and her ability to balance work, family, and personal adventures is truly inspiring.
We’re proud to have Kate on our team and grateful for the positive impact she continues to make at FaverGray.
