Meet James Hill, one of FaverGray’s diligent Directors of Construction who has been with the team for over a decade. James has more than 42 years of field experience in multifamily housing, student housing, and commercial construction. As Director of Construction, James is responsible for field staffing with oversight and support for his staff to ensure that each project has the resources and information to build the projects safely, on time, and with quality.
According to James, there is no typical day at FaverGray. Every day presents its own challenges but helping to solve daily issues is part of the fun. His favorite part of his role is being able to teach, train, and help those around him to be successful, and James considers his greatest career achievement to be seeing those he helped succeed in their careers.
James was inspired to join the construction industry by his father, who was a superintendent; if he were to be a part of any industry besides construction, he would choose music because that is his passion! While developing his ability to mentor others with patience, James has both learned and taught that there are some things you just can’t change without help.
When he’s not working alongside a team of people he considers family, James unwinds by playing guitar and singing, doing landscape projects, drawing/painting, and going on walks with his wife. He dreams of traveling to California’s Redwood forests, but his favorite place he’s visited so far is Balaklava, Russia. And speaking of a passion for music, James’ favorite song is Bob Seger’s “Against the Wind”!
